Filamentation of the surface plasma layer during the electrical explosion of conductors in strong magnetic fields

A model has been considered to describe the development of a surface discharge over conductor electrically exploding in strong magnetic field. simulation performed using this shown that initial stage explosion, plasma layer several tens micrometers thick with an electron temperature electronvolts is formed on metal surface. Based theory small perturbations, thermal filamentation instabilities form analyzed. The characteristic growth rates and wavelengths these have determined. theoretical results were compared experiments ZEBRA generator (providing load currents amplitude about 1 MA rise time 100 ns) MIG 2 ns). For conditions implemented generators, gives times nanoseconds at order μm. These values are good agreement experimental data, which indicates adequacy both model.
